Voice memo to text

Voice Memo to Text

Turn a recording from Voice Memos, Recorder or WhatsApp into text you can search and paste.

Voice memos, lecture snippets, meeting notes

Same engine as the voicemail tool, tuned for speech: drop an iPhone Voice Memo (.m4a), an Android Recorder file, a WhatsApp voice note (.opus/.ogg) or a dictation you made in the car, and get the words back with optional timestamps. One recording up to three minutes is free every day; longer files — up to 15 minutes — are $1.99 each or ten for $4.99.

Getting the file

  • iPhone Voice Memos — tap the memo → ⋯ → Share → Save to Files, Mail, or AirDrop.
  • Android Recorder (Pixel) — Pixel already transcribes on-device; use this tool for the export or for languages the phone doesn't support.
  • Samsung Voice Recorder — long-press the recording → Share.
  • WhatsApp / Telegram voice note — open the chat → long-press the note → forward to email or "Save to Files".

Voice memo to text — FAQ

Where is the voice memo file on my iPhone?
Open Voice Memos, tap the recording, tap ⋯ → Share → Save to Files (or AirDrop it to a Mac). The file is an .m4a. On Android, the Recorder app has a share button on each recording.
How long can a voice memo be?
Up to 15 minutes per file here. A 10-minute memo takes about half an hour to transcribe on our servers — you can leave the tab open or come back to it.
Does it add punctuation and paragraphs?
Punctuation, yes. It does not invent paragraph breaks; switch on timestamps if you want to see where pauses fall.
Is my memo private?
The audio is deleted after 24 hours (or immediately, with the delete button) and is never used for training.
